Artist statement
In my third semester of ceramics I decided to try something different, something I’ve never done before. In previous art shows I have focused on wheel throwing. This semester I decided to hand build my own jewelry. I have always been really into wearing jewelry so I thought it would be cool if I could wear the jewelry I created. My mom has always created her own jewelry so my inspiration for my art show was after my mom. I looked on pinterest for some ideas to get even more inspiration. I created a set of earrings, necklaces and bracelets with either white glaze and gold leaf or cool colors like blue, green, and purple. At first I struggled a lot with hand building because the clay moisture was the most important part. I grew this semester as an artist and challenged myself in ways I hadn’t done before. When I go off to college I hope to continue my ceramics career and continue to create.
